For Body Dialogues IV / Constellations, Anneleen works with interdisciplinary artist and choreographer Mary Szydlowska, who documented the creation process of Blue Moon Spring at different times between February and October 2023. By means of video, photography, interviews, transcriptions of conversations, and drawing, Mary followed moments of the creation, linking them like dots that can form constellations. The documentation doesn’t focus on the thematics of the piece itself, but on the creative process, the roles of the collaborators, the spaces they work in, and other peripheral elements. The creation of Blue Moon Spring and the documentation in relation to the piece were independent, parallel projects that kept intersecting and nourishing each other. Mary and Anneleen now continue dialoguing about ways in which this kind of documentation can be shared; documentation that is not concerned with preservation or education, but rather reveals the complexity of a process, the values and practices of its temporary community, and the impact of the work that goes beyond the finished performance.

About Body Dialogues: Within the framework of Body Dialogues Anneleen initiates conversations with different artists about specific aspects of the body and dance. The invited artists are not necessarily performers or choreographers, but the body or movement forms an intrinsic part of their work. Body Dialogues creates a space for active contemplation and cultivates communication with and about the body. Favouring an in-depth approach, the dialogues are spread over several months or years. At times, the practice opens to different kinds of audiences, in order to involve more people in experiencing and thinking about the body and dance.
